Bihus:

These are the foremost and important festivals of Assam observed in three different parts during the entire year. The very first part is Bohaag or Rongaali Bihu that is commemorated in April and depicted as the welcome of New Year and beginning of sowing of their traditional crop paddy.

The next part of the Bihu, Kaati or Kongaali Bihu comes in the middle of year as celebration of completion of sowing of padding in the fields. The next and last part of Bihu is Maagh or Bhogaali Bihu to celebrate the ripening and cutting of crops.

Bihu

Well, during all three times Assamese enjoy this festival with folk dances and songs, along with having fun with their loved ones. One more special thing that I particularly love the most about Bihu is its unified celebration all across Assam.

Regardless of the fact of different religions and castes, entire mass of Assam commemorate these festivals with same verve. Not a single person of Assam cares about his religion or caste while celebrating these festivals; hence, you can state this festival as ‘Unity of diversified culture and caste.’

I know I have missed some other festivals from various other regions and in fact, I haven’t mentioned here about Id and Deepawali. Nevertheless, please do not feel that I have forgotten about these festivals. Actually, I wanted to tell you people about those regional festivals, which are either celebrated in a particular state or in some regions, while Deepawali and Holi are for entire country.

Pongal
Now, you would say that why I am telling you about Holi, when it is as well celebrated in entire country. Well, actually you know what, when we are talking about festival then you tell me how I can forget about the most entertaining festival of India, Holi; especially at that time, when this festival has given special songs to our Indian cinema.
